Pedicures With Acrylic
I'm sure you like having nice-looking nails. Acrylic nails are a popular choice for fingernails. Some stylists will also use them on your toenails. This can be extremely inconvenient, and it has the potential to result in pain and infection.
Do You Cover Up Your Toenails? Why?
There are a variety of reasons why people feel compelled to hide their natural toenails. To begin with, your toenail could be infected with a fungus. Toenails get swollen and yellow as a result of a fungus. Even once the infection is treated, the toenail takes on average nine months to grow out. Before then, I'm sure you'd like a nicer-looking toenail!
Trauma is another reason for thick, discoloured toenails. On our feet, trauma is common: we can bump our toes, stub our toes, or have our toes stepped on. It's likely nothing more serious than hitting the end or top of your shoe repeatedly. While most harm is transient, the damage may be permanent, requiring you to find a solution to conceal it.
The Issue with Acrylic Nails
Acrylic nails are rigid and stiff. This isn't an issue on your fingernails, but it is when you put your feet into a shoe. Your toenails flex as you walk and come in contact with a shoe. The nail would embed into your toe if it didn't have this flexibility, resulting in an ingrown toenail. Even if the pressure is only applied for a brief period, it might result in a severe toe infection. This infection will need a trip to the doctor. It's the same way we'd deal with a natural ingrown toenail. To avoid these issues, it may be best to stay away from artificial nails.
